A recent painting by Artist James Lawler, Arctic Monarch was adapted from a very small reference magazine photograph, this work of art required complete re-creation of the composition to its present dramatic format. This work is part of a grouping focusing on the growing endangered species on our planet.

This work of art has become a donation from James Lawler Fine Art to the CNIB for their CNIB Art Appeal Event, April 29, 2011 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Asking to not be named in the sale, a private collector has purchased James Lawler’s fine art painting Winter Blue Jay. Painted in 2005, Winter Blue Jay is one of James Lawler’s finest avian works. And counted among one of the most detailed pieces in Lawler’s avian fine art collection. The new owner of Winter Blue Jay, said he felt lucky to be able to add such a beautiful example of a wildlife painting, from a Canadian artist, to his personal collection. Saying as well, that he knew he had made a good investment.

“There’s no such thing as retirement,” says professional wildlife photographer, artist and musician James Lawler. “I’m busier now than when I was working!”

Originally from Ontario, James was working for the Ontario Lottery Corporation when a friend from Victoria sent him a copy of the Times Colonist.

“The Ontario snow was up to here, the temperature dropped down to there and we decided enough was enough,” says James. “We came out for a ‘look-see’ eight years ago and been here ever since.”
